美洲金翅雀（American Gold Finch)

Hi Thomas, Grace and Olivia,

May I share a couple photos of American gold finch feeding the seed of sunflower with you? The bright color of yellow is as shiny as gold. This is probably why we call it “Gold Finch”. Gold finch are migratory bird that they move north up to Canada in the Summer. This kind of bird is commonly seen in our backyard.

社區白尾鹿

Hi Thomas, Grace and Olivia,

Saw this family of whitetail deer, mom and two fawns, in our community on our way home few days ago. As usual, they are very alert and stay right at you when you try to snap few shots. Those white spots on the fawn(=細鹿）are used  as a camouflage to protect itself from the predators in the wild. From the source of experts, it takes 90 to 120 days for a fawn to grow into an adult without any spots.

上禮拜，老朋友寄來一本書，it’s called “John Foster Dulles and Formosa”. 你兜應該認識這位作者 王景弘先生；佢目前還為「自由時報」寫專欄：「鏗鏘集」，至少，一個月有一篇。

華府太陽花

Hi Thomas and Grace,

For one unknown reason, Maryland State / Department of Natural Resources decided not to plant sunflowers as much as in the past. For another reason, flower did not bloom as well as before. Seeing this sunflower takes Big Ben back in time to March 18th, 2014 when a bunch of Taiwanese youngsters protested Ma’s trade policy which 

is designed to hurt Taiwan.

亞洲嘉年華 Asia Fiesta

This year of Tiger’s Asia Fiesta was held again near the Capitol in Washington, DC yesterday. What a coincidence to see the  exhibition tents of TAAGWC and Greater Washington Hakka Association are next to each other!

黑眼紅菊花 Black-eyed daisy

Hi Thomas and Grace,

This is black-eyed daisy in red. Sometimes you will see it in yellow or orange color. It’s also called Black-eyed Susan by some American.

紅色喇叭花 Red Trumpet Flower

Hi Thomas and Grace,

Saw this red trumpet flower on our outing for birds and waterfowl at Riley’s park, Potomac, Maryland and took few pictures yesterday. This type of trumpet flower grows on a vine and climbs on the trees nearby in the woods. Some American families grow and plant it in the pots to draw hummingbird in their backyards.

Hi Thomas and Grace,

I am proud to be on 2022 MSO (Maryland Senior Olympics) flyer and brochure for registration. May I share them with you? Once every year, all 50 States have their own Senior Olympics encouraging peoples over 50 years old to exercise for their wellness (body and mind). Out of many sports, tennis is a popular event. Representing Maryland, I played/completed my first National Senior Olympics in 2003 at Norfolk, Virginia.
