日頭落下山

Hi Thomas and Grace,

It has been a long while since I wrote the last(上次) H3LP. I wrote this poem and sent to TAAGWC LINE group(about 220 members) challenging Taiwanese School’s Principal, Vice Principal and all teachers to write Taiwan-3-lines-poem in order to save 「台灣話」in writing.

逐擺看到日落(下)山

心情壞到冇人知(問)

這隻秧鶴仔

迷路飛來馬里蘭(Maryland)

溪肚冇閒尋虷(虷=Freshwater clams)

這種秧鶴仔

戴肚美南、南美洲

盡少走開飛北方

依照專家講

馬州出現有八擺

首次現蹤 C&O Canal(Montgomery County)

煞猛為台灣爭光

實在當敗識, 

恁久認真練打球, 

尋冇時間寫三行

參加全國賽, 

煞猛為台灣爭光, 

奈知打入急診室

It’s not that serious from the fall caused by my desperate attempts to save a drop shot made by the opponent when we played our MXD(70-74 age group) on the tennis courts at CMU(Carnegie Mellon University). They sent me to UPMC Presbyterian emergency room just in case. For that accident, I dropped out from the remaining matches and returned home with medals but bruises, scratches, bled/skinned right pinky finger and a broken glasses from Pittsburgh where 2023 National Senior Games is held on 7/14/23. I am doing fine now. Come to think of it. That fall 

must have something to do with 陳文成教授. He used to play his tennis games there. It’s a wake up call for Big Ben to be a fighter, i.e., fighting for Team Taiwan and Taiwan, our motherland to the end.

Hazy Sun caused the smoke from Canadian wildfires 日頭矇矇矇

Hi Thomas, Grace and Olivia,

Just share few photos taken on Route 50 near Chesapeake Bay Bridge on our way home from Blackwater National Wildlife Refuge South to Cambridge, Maryland on June 5th. It’s not foggy but hazy. It’s very unusual to see Sun with your eyes on a sunny day.

It’s told that the wildfires are burning in Ottawa and Quebec regions in Canada. Hope all is well with Grace and her family in Toronto!

Hi My Hakka friends,

難得有人來探望

人生四次大淘汰》

一).65歲，政治上、職場上、商場上會漸淘汰了您，官大官小一樣，回歸普通百姓。別人稱你老張老李，就放下架子吧，別不自在！

二).70歲，社會上淘汰了您，朋友越來越少，熟人越來越少，去原單位，門衛會問：“您找誰？”，別不習慣！

三).80歲，家庭淘汰了您，雖然兒孫滿堂，您已非重心，經常您孤身一人，有人看望、和您說句話都是一種奢望，別太見怪！

四).90歲，地球會隨時把您淘汰了，有的已掛牆上，有的只在您忌日才拿出來掛上，別太在意！

趁我們身體還行，還是湊合湊合，想吃就吃，想喝就喝，想玩就玩，想幹的事趕快幹，別再給自己添麻煩了，人家其實比您活的瀟酒、自在、實惠呢！

Prothonotary warbler 藍翅黃色鶯

Dear All,

The prothonotary warbler is a small song bird in New World warbler family. It’s migratory bird between North and Central/South America. This tiny is not only looking pretty but also singing loud musical notes which can clearly heard in the woods between the Potomac River and C&O Canal(=Chesapeake and Ohio Canal) off River Road, Potomac, Maryland.

年年春天到

在波特馬克河邊（Potomac River)

看到藍色黃森鶯

這種黃森鶯

來自南邊中南美（Central and South America)

戴佇北美到入秋

有聽鳥友講

公鶯先來尋巢戴

嬤鶯配合慢慢飛

American woodcock 美洲山鵴（坵鵴）

Dear All,

看過美洲山鵴冇？頭擺常透聽人講過，不過，從來毋識看過；這擺運氣特別好，看到一隻阿姆山鵴渡四隻細山鵴，在國家水公園（National Aquatic Gardens)唇行來行去。攝著異多相片，隨便尋幾張撩大家分享。

山鵴得人惜

行起路來前後搖

搖出姿態像跳舞

山鵴係侯鳥

入秋飛南來過冬

挖土掘地食蟲䘆（=坵蚓）

Notice there is one photo showing that mom has an earthworm in her mouth while one chick has mouth wide open.

美國白頭鷹 American Bald Eagles

Dear All,

This is a continuation of monitoring Bald Eagles and their eaglets in Masonsviile Cove, Baltimore, Maryland. We captured a shot of returning eagle with a fish on its claw and feeding one of its baby with siblings watching early this week.  Are these pictures stunning?

拉一條長長布條

頂頭寫 Taiwan Independence (台灣獨立）

看著蔡總統

自然會想著台灣

嗯兜永遠介家鄉

台美人命運

會毋會像外省人

想家歸鄉愛發夢

Dear All,

Do you ever see American wood duck in the wild? I saw a pair in the Lake Artemesia, College Park, Maryland last week. Male duck is colorful and beautiful while female looks different and a bit dull but acceptable.

盼望台北有「台灣會館」

Dear All,

Haha.,, found this photo in my collection of photos with famous politicians from Taiwan. Is it precious? For years, I have followed her whereabouts and really cared about her life in politics. There are some proof in the blog of Hakka three lines poem.

Here is one of the voices of a first generation Taiwanese American on the eve of Taiwan President Tsai’s transit visit in New York on her way to Guatemala and Belize next week. Please pass along this voice to her if you happen to ran into her everywhere.

2023華府賞櫻花🌸

Dear All,

Once again it’s cherry blossom time in Washington DC. As usual, the tourists packed on the tidal basin while the automobiles and tour buses jammed on nearby roads. It took three hours to drive one mile from Thomas Jefferson Memorial to East Capital Park and to get out that mess(stop and go). It was the worst traffic I ran into in my life.

潮汐湖頂人尖人

母子情

Dear All,

Out to Masonville Cove, Baltimore, Maryland, checked this mother Bald Eagle nest and took a few pictures last week. Note two things with your good eyes: a huge nest built with tree branches and a eaglet(very small, gray furry head with a big eye) sitting right in front of mom. It’s not easy to raise a baby eagle.

一年一又年

看白頭鷹母子情

傳種接代當認真

It takes 35 days to hatch from egg to eaglet. It takes much longer(10 to 12 weeks) to be fledged(left mom to become independent juvenile).
