Hi Thomas and Grace,
There
was another surprise in our regular outing to the wilderness(野外）last
week. It was a gloomy rainy day in Riley Park at Lock #24 of C&O
Canal off River Road, Potomac, Maryland. We spotted this family of
common merganser in the creek when we were about to park our car. Just
share a photo or two with you. Are they gorgeous? Notice that few chicks
ride on mom’s back while the rest following right behind. Cute, sweet
and spectacular , isn’t it? It’s said that like other migratory
waterfowl, they come south in the Winter and fly back north in the
Spring; and it’s rare and unusual to stay down to have a family here.

入冬南飛來過冬
春雷一過轉北方
依照專家講
這種鴨罕得留下
交配孵卵降細鴨
虎年好虎氣
睹到這群沙秋鴨
歸年平安也快樂
