Dawn Redwood, a deciduous coniferous tree

Hi Thomas, Grace and Friends of H3LPs,

My bet is that most of you may not have seen this little redwood and have not heard about it in your life. Basically, there are three kinds of redwoods in the world: Coast Redwoods(海唇紅杉) in California and Oregon, Giant Sequoia Redwoods(高山紅杉) in Sierra Nevada mountains of Central California and Dawn Redwoods(細紅杉) in Central China. You may not also known that dawn redwoods is deciduous coniferous tree(落葉針樹).These photos of a dawn redwood were taken in our local park in Columbia, Maryland where we visit at least once a week during this COVID-19 pandemic mess. Naturalists call this redwood  “a living fossil” while some other people say, “It’s an ancient tree from the “dawn” of time.” I personally call it 「細(小)紅杉」compared to two other big ones(大紅杉、中紅杉) in the sub-family.

As you notice in one of photos, this particular dawn redwood came from the seed in 1944.
