Little Blue Heron

 Dear Friends,

The Little Blue Heron is a close relative of the snowy egret( 白鷺鷥). It looks like snowy when it is young but molts to a dark slate-blue plumage as an adult. They are only found in North and South American coasts. Check the photos taken at North Point State Park swamp, near Baltimore, Maryland last week to see what I mean.

Compared to great blue heron, little blue heron is smaller and little. This is probably why ornithologist(鳥類學家)call them “little blue“.
