美國眾議院選議長/House speaker election

It’s tough to write a H3LP for the mess of the House Speaker election. It was the longest vote in the history of US Capitol, i.e., 164 years after the civil war. As you know, not a single representative becomes official with a swearing in until the speaker is elected.

共和黨贏眾議院（223 vs 212)

依照法律來

多數黨推出議長（House Speaker)

加州Kevin McCarthy呼聲最強

冇人想得到

極右派議員強硬(=超級保守派，Ultra-conservative)

反對McCarthy拿木槌（=Gavel)

為了選議長

前後投票十四擺（voting processes in the House)

逐擺無法過半數（218 votes out of a total of 435)

根據新聞報

為了幾張同意票

McCarthy答應強硬派要求

最尾擺投票（at 15th vote/第十五次投票）

McCarthy總算上台坐大位

完成眾議員宣誓（=swear in?)

According to the records, McCarthy only obtained 216 votes at 15th vote. The actual counts at this ballot(or vote) are 212 for Rep. Jeffries of DNC, 216 for Rep. McCarthy and 6 for “voting present” Republican. In other words, “No House without a speaker.”
